About Me

Madhu Kannan

The complexity of life springs from an eccentric combination of merely four letters. But research has hardly gone close to resolving it!

Thank you for visiting my writing portfolio, where I share my stories on the brain and biology.

I am a postdoctoral researcher of neurobiology at Yale University and an aspiring science writer. Besides my scientific expeditions in a lab that studies neuronal circuits in the brain, I am a freelance reporter for Lab Times, a European magazine for the life sciences. I cover the latest scientific discoveries for the magazine’s journal club, and discuss trends in academia in investigative reporting.

I studied molecular genetics at the University of Leicester, UK and obtained my PhD in neurobiology from the Max Planck Institute of Experimental Medicine and George August University, Germany. I live in New Haven, CT, with my husband.
